RESIDENTS in Wigan and Leigh are being urged to watch out for potentially toxic vodka that could be in circulation in the borough.
Around 30,000 litres of fake vodka, which was presumed to be lethal, was uncovered in an industrial unit in Widnes last Friday July 31.
HMRC and Cheshire Police officers seized suspected counterfeit vodka labels and bottle tops for number 1 Imperial Vodka Blue.
Wigan Trading Standards is now concerned that bottles may have already reached the borough. The bottles concerned do not display a manufacturer’s name and address.
All licensed premises are warned to only buy stock from established wholesalers and never accept stock from strangers visiting their premises.
Anyone who has already bought affected bottles should not sell or drink it and contact Trading Standards on 01942 827476 or email email@example.com.
People can also report illegal alcohol or tobacco to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
