Adactus green house effect

A HOUSING organisation based in Leigh has been recognised for its green efforts.

Adactus, which covers Leigh and Wigan, is one of only 40 organisations across the UK to work with the Carbon Trust to produce a detailed carbon management plan.

The plan includes a range of projects that focus on helping Adactus reduce emissions from its buildings, reduce the need for staff travel, greening of company vehicles and generating a green culture across the group.

The delivery of these projects will reduce Adactus’ carbon footprint by 25 per cent.

At the same time, the plan will enable the group to avoid energy related costs of £1.2m over five years - with on-going annual savings of £400,000.

Natalie Myers, climate change manager at Adactus, said: “We are delighted to receive this national recognition for our plan to help reduce Adactus’ impact on the environment.

“Our steering group and all staff are committed to ensure that the projects outlined in the plan are delivered successfully.”
