TALENTED musicians and sports stars will ensure Leigh is lit up for the festive season in style.
The town’s Christmas lights will be switched on at the end of a two-hour programme of entertainment in the town centre on Thursday November 19.
The centre of Leigh will be filled with the festive glow of twinkling lights at 7pm when they are switched on, accompanied by a firework display.
Organisers will be hoping for another bumper turn-out for what is always a popular event in the town’s calendar.
Westleigh High School band will get the festivities in Civic Square under way at 5pm and there will also be music from the Birchall Duo and young singer Zoe Unsworth in the first hour of the show.
The Turnpike Players will then put on a short Christmas pantomime at 6.10pm before Atherton musician Martin Finn takes to the stage and players from the Leigh Centurions, together with their coach Paul Rowley, make an appearance.
The Mayor of Wigan Coun Susan Loudon will then address the audience before the lights are switched on at 7pm.
