Driving test pass rates have fallen to their lowest level in a decade, according to official figures.

In the year 2018/19 just 45.8 per cent of candidates passed the practical on-road test and 47.4 per cent passed the driving theory test.

But a challenge by MoneySuperMarket suggests that just one in ten drivers who already have a licence would manage to pass today’s theory test.

The price comparison site put a number of current theory test questions to licence holders to see how their knowledge measured up and found just 11 per cent answered enough correctly to meet the 86 per cent pass mark.
