How would you like to drive around in a car that racing legend Graham Hill used to own and drive?

In 1970 this Lotus Elan Plus 2 was given to Graham Hill for his use during the racing season by Team Lotus. And now it’s up for auction.

When RAH 400F left the factory it was silver but when the current owner acquired it in 1976 it was the yellow you see here. Since then it’s simply been sitting about in the gloom, becoming slightly dilapidated in the process. The speedo doesn’t work and mileage is thought to be around 120,000 miles and the car is admitted to being in a state that is ‘requiring restoration’.

If that doesn’t put you off, then the car is up for sale at the Historics auction at Brooklands in November. There’s no reserve but even so the price will probably be high. Which will buy someone a car owned, let us not forget, by the only racer to ever win an F1 World Championship, the Indy 500 and Le Mans.

You’ll have to supply your own pencil-thin, rakish moustache.
