Paul Rowley has hailed his side’s history making start to the season as “phenomenal”.
Leigh’s win at Featherstone on Sunday was their 12th in a row – the best start to a season in the club’s history.
“It’s a record that reflects well on everyone at the club,” said Centurions boss Rowley.
“The run shows that rewards are there for hard work and consistency but we also know there are many more challenges ahead.
“To set a record like that is a phenomenal achievement.”
The next potential target record for Rowley and his players is successive wins – 14 – which was set in the 1981/82 season and matched in the 1985/86 season.
On Sunday Leigh look to make it 13 wins on the bounce when they go to Dewsbury.
“They are a dangerous team though seem to lack consistency. Sometimes they win the games you’re not expecting them to and then they lose matches where they’re favourites.
“As at Featherstone, Dewsbury’s pitch is compact and there is no place to hide. But we have been looking forward to – and meeting – challenges all season.”
