Tyldesley win top of table clash

Second placed Tyldesley recorded a vital win against third placed Oldershaw, who were only a point behind the home side. A good team attitude contributed to a superb win, despite a slightly poor start, with Oldershaw taking full advantage to record a converted try in the seventh minute.

This seemed to give Bongs the wakeup call they needed. Guest touched down two minutes later.

A scrum won against the head, saw the ball being shipped out by Griffiths, for Monks to touch down. Taylor, Rushton, Mennell and Legge contributed well for the third try, after pressure resulted in a dropped ball over the visitors line for Griffiths to pounce, who also converted. Half time 17-7

After the break, Guest recorded his second try, after another strong scrum, aided good service from Griffiths.

By now Bongs had the upper hand, as good pick and drives, resulted in a score, by Weaver.

With just over 20 minutes remaining Oldershaw struck back with a good try in the 49th minute.

Bongs wrapped up the scoring nine minutes from time, after yet more, good team rugby that had Prendergast break from another strong scrum and pass to Griffiths for a converted try under the sticks that secured a good win for all concerned putting Bongs top on points difference.
