Astley VIP’s professional boxing team is celebrating three wins from three contests over the weekend.

On a show at Blackpool Winter Gardens welterweight Scott Moonan scored a first round stoppage of the normally durable Andrew Patterson from Birmingham. This was Scott’s second successive stoppage victory after a narrow points defeat on his debut.

At Liverpool Olympia lightweight Sean ‘Masher’ Dodd stretched his unbeaten record to six wins from six contests with an entertaining points victory over Sheffield’s Lee Connolly. Masher scored a knockdown in the first round from an overhand right but Connolly put up stern resistance throughout the fight and played his part in a fight that had the crowd on its feet.

Also on the Olympia show, 2012 National amateur finalist Paul Riley made a stunning professional debut with a one punch knockout of the experience Matthew Ashmole from Swansea. Riley answered a two punch combination from Ashmole with a better combination of his own that sent the Welshman crashing to the canvas. Thankfully he recovered after a few minutes and was able to leave the ring under his own steam.
