Miners Rangers’ alliance team moved to the brink of promotion with a thrilling Hallowe’en triumph over one of their nearest challengers, Latchford Albion.
In wild and windy conditions this was a tense game, Albion holding a commanding 12-4 lead at one stage as Miners struggled to make inroads despite an early Lewis Sproston try. Even when the home side did reduce the deficit midway through the second half through Dave Rowlands, Albion hit back immediately to open a six point advantage. However a fine solo effort by Scott Travis put Miners on their way and they eventually closed out the game in relative comfort.
The team now need just a point from their remaining match at Leyland to ensure Division One rugby next season.
The club will be holding their end of season presentation night on Friday, November 30.
