It was a great end to the season for Team Leigh with three Elite Belt Champions in three days.
Team Leigh puncher Tomi Tatham (pictured) produced another minute and a half of mayhem on Wednesday evening in Morecambe to win the Elite Super Heavyweight Belt in his final amateur contest.
Appearing on the Skerton ABC show, where the Leigh boxer had sold over 170 tickets, Tomi was conceding an incredible 15kg to his very experienced opponent Joe Clarke, but the power and speed of the Leigh boxer, who is going professional with coach Adrian Fleming, simply overwhelmed Clarke forcing two eight counts and a stoppage midway through the first round.
His gallant opponent, a veteran of over 30 contests, said he has never, ever been hit so hard !
Also on the bill was exciting Leigh schoolboy, 11-year-old Zach Evans, having his sixth contest and proving a league above his outgunned opponent Cole Parker
• Paddy Brown retained his Elite light heavyweight belt with a stunning first round knockout of the experienced Ben Broadhurst of Castle Hill ABC in Bolton on Thursday evening. Starting the bout at a blistering pace, Paddy continually drove the Bolton-based boxer back with heavy shots to body and head, forcing an eight count, before delivering the stunning K.O. blow to end the contest.
• Steve Backhouse ended the season in style on Friday evening in Blackpool, winning the Elite Light Welterweight Belt with a barnstorming, unanimous points win over Blackpool Kingscote
ABC’s experienced Alex McCloy. Controlling the bout with some classy boxing, Steve made sure of victory giving his outgunned opponent two standing counts in the final round.
