Leigh Jnr Colts continued their bright start on the road, away at unbeaten Macclesfield.

Early penalty conversions from Leigh’s Drake, put their noses in front but Macc came back strongly and ran in two tries before half time, to lead 12-6 at the break. The second half saw some Leigh players again fail to appreciate the need to stay onside and not give penalties away in general play, which led to more intense pressure from the home team. This was compounded when Leigh were reduced to 14 men for poor verbal discipline. The remaining Leigh lads manfully defended their line and once again the pre-season fitness training and usual defensive tenacity bore fruit with opportunities to attack eventually occurring. Deft play from Drake saw him create the opportunity for Uzokwe to streak in to touch down, before taking on the defence himself to bag a well deserved try. The victory was sealed when great team support play from an imaginative kick, again by Drake, led to Uzokwe claiming his brace. An excellent sporting performance from both teams, and lots of gutsy individual efforts from the Leigh lads, with a bit more personal discipline Leigh should continue to improve and make good progress in the Raging Bull competition
