Leigh Cricket Club’s girls’ teams have been doing themselves proud this season.
Karen Brereton, head of Leigh CC Women & Girls Cricket said: “Girls cricket at Leigh CC continues to go from strength to strength.
“The number of girls at Friday training nights is growing weekly.
“Last season we introduced team cricket for our girls and we now have ‘Lionesses’ playing in boys leagues at U9 & U11 level as well as U10 and U13 girls teams in Lancashire Girls tournaments and the Cheshire Girls League respectively.
“Our U13 girls are currently top of the Cheshire League.
“In this team are a number of girls who currently represent Lancashire and Cheshire at County and District level.
“We are also proud to have girls in this age group who, at 10 years old, are playing a number of years ‘young’, yet more than holding their own.
“Our U11 team won their first ever game in the boys league last week and backed that up with a second win in as many weeks away at Norley Hall recently.
“Our U10 and U9 teams are improving week on week and we look to have a number of girls developing into very promising players.”
Leigh would like to thank sponsors Genlec, Cooke & Company, Millennium Storage, Fast Flow, Amber Taverns & AJ & BA Marsh for their generous support.
The club continues to welcome new players of any ability.
If you are interested in introducing your child to cricket then take them along at 6pm on a Friday night.
