Last weekend East first team travelled to Millom in the first round of the Tier Two Cup.
Due to work and other commitments there were a number of changes to the regular team and what should have been an easy win was decided by a last-minute Adam Holland penalty to give East a 20-18 win and a second round home match against Miners on the weekend of July 14/15.
As always as players are promoted to the first team it forces changes further down and the second team which had beaten Bank Quay Bulls the previous weekend lost by 16-48 to Haydock.
The Under-18s put on a superb display of rugby in the quarter-final of the Youth Challenge Cup against Milford Marlins, rattling up 56 points before their opponents crossed for a last-minute try.
Loose forward Mitchell Cox bagging a hat-trick while second row Connor Partington bagged two, other tries from Chris Whittle, Josh Adudwumaa, Josh Galvley, Matt Pendlebury and Brad Hargreaves, with Curtis Littlewood landing eight from 10 attempts. Hooker Nicky Ratcliffe taking the man of the match award. The semi-final is to be played on July 15 when East play host to East Leeds.
