Matty Dawson has moved from Saints to Leigh in a five-figure transfer.

The 25-year-old made 50 appearance for the Langtree Park club since switching from Huddersfield in 2013.

He previously played for Castleford but was signed by Nathan Brown who then brought him to Saints.

During his spell in the red vee, Dawson established himself as a dependable back, who can play at both centre and winger.

Saints chief executive Mike Rush said: “Matty is at a time in his career when he needs to be playing regularly.

“Therefore when the opportunity for him to move to Leigh came up it made sense for the both player and the club to agree to the transfer.

“We are grateful for Matty’s service and professionalism and we wish him all the best at Leigh.”

Dawson has agreed a two-and-a-half year contract at the Centurions.
