DEWSBURY stand between Leigh and a place in the Championship Grand Final.

The Rams will take on the League Leaders Shield winners at the Sports Village this Sunday after pulling off a stunning 25-0 win at Halifax.

Former Halifax stand-off Anthony Thackeray scored two tries for the Rams on the 200th appearance of his career and Sam Wood and Tommy Gallagher also touched down as the Rams earned an unlikely trip to the Leigh Sports Village in next Sunday’s semi-finals.

Leigh have already beaten Dewsbury twice in the league this season but both games were highly competitive.

Featherstone will host reigning champions Sheffield Eagles in the other semi-final after Mark Aston’s men overcame Doncaster 58-24 in Sunday’s other preliminary semi-final at the Keepmoat Stadium.

In form full-back Quentin Laulu-Togagae led the way for the Eagles with two tries, taking his total to 16 in his last eight matches, while Eddie Battye, Etu Uaisele, Pat Walker, Menzie Yere, Matt Garside, Scott Turner, Kyle Briggs and Dane Straugher also touched down.

Doncaster trailed 34-6 at half-time, with David Scott scoring their only try of the first 40 minutes, while Scott Spaven, Tom Hodgson and Mike Emmett touched down after the break.
