JAKE Emmitt has been paid the ultimate compliment by Leigh coach Paul Rowley.
The hard-working forward was this week named in the Kingstone Press Championship Team of the Week and Rowley says Emmitt is always one of the first names on his teamsheet.
“He has been consistently brilliant this year,” said Rowley. “He is low maintenance and just goes about his business but that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate his efforts.
“Players like Ryan Brierley, Liam Kay and Martyn Ridyard might be the ones who make the headlines but Jake is always one of the first names I write on the teamsheet. He is one my top six players of the season.”
Warrington born Emmitt, who represented Wales in the 2013 World Cup, made a combined total of 81 Super League appearances for St Helens, Castleford and Salford and rejoined Leigh during the past winter, having enjoyed a successful loan spell with the club in 2010.
Earlier this year he signed a new two year deal which will see him go full time with Centurions from next season.
