LEIGH returned to the top of the Kingstone Press Championship in style as they hammered Hunslet 72-6.

Full-back Gregg McNally scored five tries in a Man of the Match display while Liam Kay and Matt Sarsfield also scored two apiece.

It was a satisfying night for Leigh coach Paul Rowley, especially as they were backing up after a win in Workington on Sunday.

“I am delighted,” said Rowley. “It was a good 80 minute performance after the challenge of backing up from being at Workington.

“I thought in the first half especially we performed very well. We have a demanding schedule coming up with games againt Featherstone and Bradford but it’s good to be back at the top of the league. We boosted our points difference against Hunslet and also have that game in hand.

“We achieved all our objectives tonight and I was really pleased.”
