Leigh have sold more than 2,500 tickets for Saturday’s Challenge Cup quarter final at Warrington.

The Kingstone Press Championship leaders have already beaten two Super League sides in Salford and Wakefield to reach this stage but Warrington will pose their stiffest test yet.

Games between the local rivals have been few and far between in recent years. In fact Leigh have only played one competitive game at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. That was in the 2005 season when Warrington won 26-22 in front of 11,412 fans.

Friendly fixtures apart, the last game between the sides was in 2008 when the Wolves beat Leigh 28-16 at Hilton Park in the fourth round of the Challenge Cup.

To satisfy demand, Leigh will extend opening hours at the Sports Village ticket office until 8pm on Wednesday and Thursday.

Warrington say they have already sold every hospitality spot for Saturday’s game which is being broadcast live on BBC One.
