LEIGH are happy to be underdogs for Sunday’s sixth round Ladbrokes Challenge Cup tie against Wakefield.

Last month, Centurions knocked out another Super League side – Salford – with a dramatic win in front of a bumper crowd at the Sports Village.

Leigh fans are expected to travel in their hundreds to Wakefield for the tie which is being shown live on BBC2 and boss Paul Rowley says it’s a tie which has fired the imagination of his players.

“We will always be underdogs against Super League opposition,” he said.

“I understand the external interest in the tie and if you look at the league ladder, the gap between the sides shouldn’t be too wide.

“We have been encouraged by Wakefield’s form in recent weeks and have just had two really tough games against Dewsbury and Halifax which have set us up nicely.”
