The snow and ice arrived on February 4 and 5 and our estate in Hindley Green was covered with snow and ice and then our saviour arrived with his spade and gravel - no not Father Christmas but our friend Coun Brierley who looks after us old age pensioners very well.
He started clearing the snow away from our doors and made it so we could get to Oak Avenue, he refused a hot drink to keep him warm he just wanted to crack on with the job in hand.
But that was the end of it, in the afternoon he came back with a snowplough and cleared most of the roadways. I am told that he paid for this himself to help the people of Hindley Green. What a pity we don’t have a lot more councillors like him.
Thanks Coun Brierley.
