I would like to inform your readers about my recent stay in Wigan Infirmary.
Four weeks ago I was rushed into the RAEI with severe abdominal pains. From being picked up by ambulance I received the best medical treatment anyone could expect, I was diagnosed with appendicitis but at the time no one knew how severe, because I am a patient at risk they had to decide how to operate, once a decision was made I was operated on and the diagnosis was correct the appendix had perforated thus causing more problems.
After the operation I was transferred to the High Dependency Unit although I remember very little about this, once showing signs of improvement I was transferred back to Langtree Ward where I began my recovery.
Whilst spending a lot of time in bed I began to notice how the nursing staff at all levels coped with every situation thrown at them they treated everyone with respect and dignity, their level of organisation had to be seen to be believed, they were exceptional, I can only say that to have such a fantastic hospital and dedicated staff in Wigan is absolutely wonderful.
My sincere thanks to everyone one involved.
