WHILE I sympathise with rail companies who lose millions of pounds in revenue each year because of fare dodgers, I would like to see an improvement on service, in addition to the poster campaign to deter fare dodgers.
More space on trains would improve the journey to customers, while making it possible for the guard to walk through the train to check all tickets, not just those passengers within reach.
Over-crowding on peak trains is dangerous as well as uncomfortable. Passengers who intend to travel without tickets deserve to be caught and forced to pay the full fare.
May I suggest introducing ticket barriers at stations and more space on trains.
