POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was brutally assaulted in a bar in Bury.
At around 2:45am on Sunday 31 January 2016, the 30-year-old victim was in Pics Bar in Bury town centre when a fight broke out near where he was standing.
As he tried to calm the situation down, he was dragged towards the rear fire doors of the bar by a number of unknown men, one of whom had his hand around the victim’s throat.
The next thing he knew, he was outside on his hands and knees with blood running down his face and no recollection of how he got the injuries.
The man was taken to Salford Royal hospital with a fractured skull, facial bruising and a gash across his head.
Detective Constable Philip Slater of GMP’s Bury Division said: “This man was enjoying a night out with friends when he was subjected to an unprovoked and violent attack after he attempted to calm down an aggressive situation.
“We are keen to speak to anybody who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about what happened.”
