The family of the man who died following a collision on the East Lancs Road at Leigh have paid him tribute.
Paul Garratt, aged 75 was a passenger in a red Citroen Picasso that collided with a lorry on the westbound side of the A580, between Asherleigh Way and Lane Head, at about 4pm on Wednesday 1 May 2013.
Paul’s family, said: “Paul was a much loved family man who will be missed by his wife, Ann, son Edward and daughter-in-law Wendy and his three grandchildren and all his family and friends.”
The driver of the Picasso, a 58-year-old man, and the driver of the HGV, a 46-year-old man, were both arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following the collision.
The driver of the Picasso has been released on police bail until later this month and the driver of the HGV remains in police custody for questioning. Enquiries are continuing and witnesses are asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4740.
