A LEIGH amateur dramatics company will get the new year off to an all-singing, all-dancing start when they present a pantomime with a twist.
Stages Theatre is putting on The Snow Queen, which tells the story of two friends who are separated when the title character catches one of them in a magic spell, leading to an epic quest to free him from the Ice Palace.
John Crocker’s adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale of good and evil will bring this timeless tale to life through a mixture of traditional and modern elements, with an eclectic musical score including songs by Britney Spears and American alternative rock band Paramore.
Director Jo Shepherd said: “The Snow Queen is an engaging fantasy pantomime and there will be lots of audience interaction, lots of ‘Oh no he isn’t!’ and: ‘Oh yes he is!’
“There’s plenty of slapstick humour and we expect laughs galore from the youngsters in the audience, but it should leave adults wanting more too.”
The Snow Queen will be staged at Westleigh High School on January 14 and 15, starting at 2pm. Tickets are £4, with under 4s free. To buy tickets contact 01942 604597.
