A MAN skidded into a ditch after he lost control in snowy and icy conditions
The driver, thought to be in his 40s, escaped with minor injuries after he careered off the road near the roundabout at The Greyhound Hotel, off the East Lancs Road, in Leigh, at 7.30am on Saturday.
The Citroen skidded down an embankment, smashing through a fence and landed on its side in a ditch.
A spokesman for Leigh Fire Service said: “Luckily the driver had his seatbelt on. An off duty policeman witnessed the crash and came to his aid.
“When we arrived the man was out of his car and walking around. He was taken to Wigan Infirmary and was badly shaken up.”
