TWO world champions will be showing off their snooker skills on the green baize at a charity fun day in Leigh next weekend.
Former world champion Joe Johnson and former amateur world champion David Taylor will be attending the fundraiser at the Bull and Butcher, on Westleigh Lane, which will go towards supporting Wigan and Leigh Hospice.
The two snooker wizards will be taking to a specially-installed pool table throughout the day, and anyone who wants to test their arm against them will be able to have a game and a photograph taken if they make a suitable donation.
There will also be a bouncy castle, dancing competitions and a barbecue, with DJs and karaoke providing a soundtrack to the afternoon’s activities.
There will also be live music from around 7pm, with a headlining set of Celtic-influenced tunes from One Hand Clapping, who will take to the stage around 9pm.
The band will also be taking requests for favourite songs for a small donation, which will also go to the hospice.
Organisers hope the community will support the fun day and rally round the Hospice, which relies on donations to provide free care for around 900 new patients each year at its modern, purpose-built site in Hindley.
The fun day begins at 2pm on Saturday, April 7. For more information, ring 01942 882363.
