CERTAIN clinics and GP surgeries across the borough have postponed flu jabs for patients by up to a month because of a vaccine shortage.
It is understood that primary care facilities across the country are being affected – because a large supplier has experienced manufacturing problems. This has caused the delivery of the vaccine to be delayed to some practices in the region.
A spokespman for the Wigan Borough Clinical Commissioning Group which manages GP services in Wigan, said: “Everyone who needs a seasonal flu vaccination across Wigan Borough will receive it. We have had some initial problems with supplies and are contacting GP Practices across Wigan Borough to check what short term problems we may be having locally. If we do find any local difficulties we will advise GP Practices regarding alternative supplies.”
