Boys from a Scout group are devastated that they may not be able to attend summer camps after callous thieves stole a trailer they had worked hard to renovate.

Members of Howe Bridge/2nd Atherton Scouts, had spent the last few months fund-raising for a Rice of Leicestershire trailer/horse box, only for it to be stolen a few weeks later.

The camping trailer - which cost £450 - had only been moved to the club’s premises, at Howe Bridge Scout Hut, in Leigh Road, last Monday night and had been taken within two days.

Paul Grimshaw, Beaver Scout leader/assistant Scout leader, said: “Our boys spent a weekend bag packing to raise money to fund and renovate the converted horsebox.

“We moved it to our Scout hut last Monday and by Wednesday it had gone. Everyone is disappointed as they may not be able to go camping, which is such a shame. We use the trailer to store our equipment as we drive to camp sites in the summer. If anyone could help with fund-raising it would be much appreciated.”
