STAFF and pupils enjoyed the best seat in the house for a match at the Leigh Sports Village, thanks to a local regeneration firm.
The North Leigh Park Group invited the group from Westleigh High School to watch Manchester United’s reserves beat Blackburn Rovers’ second side 1-0 from their corporate box at the LSV.
The pupils and teachers were given the night out as a reward for recent exam results which saw Westleigh named the most improved school in Wigan and the fourth most improved in Greater Manchester.
Tom Birtles, Westleigh’s head of PE, said: “We’re really grateful to North Leigh Park Group for inviting us to the match at the Leigh Sports Village. It was a great game of football and the students loved every minute.
“It’s not often you get to watch a game from the comfort of a corporate box, being looked after so well. I’m sure the students won’t forget the experience in a hurry.”
Charles Billson, Chairman of North Leigh Park Group, said: “The hard work and recent inspirational results that the school has achieved deserves recognition. “North Leigh Park Group is committed to building relationships with local schools and community groups who demonstrate a genuine desire to move Leigh forwards and we want to reward them for their efforts.”
