A LEIGH-born singer will return to his hometown for a charity gig later this month.
Eddie Robbins, who specialises in performing the music of the 1950s and ‘60s, will make his latest appearance in Leigh at St Joseph’s Hall at a concert promoted by local folk singer Des Cooney.
The night will raise money for the Street Children of Africa, and will feature a nostalgic set of rock ‘n’ roll and pop tunes from artists such as Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochrane and Elvis.
Des said: “Last time Eddie was here it was an absolutely tremendous night. He’s originally a Leigh lad so he’s quite well known in the area. “Normally we run gigs for the improvement of the venue, but I heard about the charity’s work in Africa and decided to hold it for that.”
Eddie Robbins will appear at St Joseph’s Hall, on Chapel Street, on Saturday, April 27, starting at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £10 and available by ringing Des on 01942 674868.
