THE first international members of the Super-Leigh Centurions Lottery have joined as Silver business members.
Paul Byrne, Richie Moore, Martin Jones and Paul Fayle are all Leigh lads who have moved across the pond to Canada over the years, but are still avid fans of the Centurions.
On hearing the Club’s call for increased fan support in view of Arthur Thomas’ retirement, the four put their heads together and came up with an innovative proposition.
Martin said: “Living in a place where rugby league is virtually unknown, we really appreciate how special the game and Leigh Centurions is.
“But living 3,000 miles away from home it’s obviously impossible to show our support by physically being at the games, so we felt this was the next best thing.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support the club financially in this critical transitional period as well as have a bit of fun into the bargain”.
Paul (Fayle) added: “ We also hope our little venture proves to potential investors how strongly the fans are behind Leigh Centurions, and shows that they will be able to rely on the backing of us all, in any and all efforts to take our club forward.
“In addition, it would be great if it helps to trigger further pledges of support from other loyal fans.”
Trevor Barton, MBE, Leigh Centurions Acting Chief Executive said; “I am absolutely delighted to see this kind of support, the timing really couldn’t be better!”
