TAKING a photograph of an owl could be one of the wiser decisions of a Leigh woman’s life!

For her picture won first prize in Bents Garden and Home annual photographic competition.

Attracting more and more entries each year, this year was no exception. But only one of the 1400 images to be submitted could win.

And this year’s honour goes to Sarah Fairclough of Leigh with her striking, close range shot of an owl, titled ‘Piercing Eyes’.

Sarah’s image was one of just 20 to be shortlisted and displayed at the Centre’s Fresh Approach Restaurant and Facebook site where customers were invited to vote for their favourite shot.

Sarah said: “Photography is one of my passions and I particularly enjoy taking photos of animals and nature and being able to capture a specific moment in time.

“The Bents competition provides the perfect opportunity for amateur photographers like myself to share our images with others and I am delighted that my ‘Piercing Eyes’ shot seemed to catch the imagination of so many people.”

Matthew Bent, MD of Bents Garden & Home added: “The 20 finalists were all beautiful shots and they can still be viewed on our Facebook site. But we could only have one winner and customers to the Fresh Approach Restaurant and visitors to Facebook were unanimous in their choice. Sarah’s owl won many admirers and we are delighted she is our 2012 winner.”

Sarah received £50 worth of Bents vouchers and a framed copy of her winning image.
