A LEIGH Training Corps has been presented with artwork for its headquarters.

Richard Short, whose step-father, Squadron Leader Sid Malpass, flew jet fighters during the Cold War years handed over an original oil by John Woodcock, features Phantom fighter jets from 54 Squadron, which will be proudly displayed in the squadron HQ in Windermere Grove.

Warrant Officer Glenn Henry said: “We’re very grateful for this gift and it’s great that it will be displayed in a place where it will be appreciated.” The Leigh squadron meets every Tuesday and Thursday 7pm to 9.15pm and is always looking to recruit new cadets who could learn how to shoot, try adventure training and even fly.
