LEIGH’S latest supermarket was officially opened this week.
The new Morrisons store, located adjacent to Leigh Sports Village Stadium, opened its doors to the public at 9am on Monday following an official opening ceremony by the Deputy Mayor of Wigan, Councillor Myra Whiteside and Ruth Pollack, from Morrisons’ charity partner, Save the Children.
The store, located adjacent to Leigh Sports Village Stadium, is Morrisons’ 469th and will incorporate Market Street, Morrisons’ collection of individual fresh food shops, including a butcher, baker, and fishmonger section with oven fresh, deli and salad counters featuring skilled staff making and preparing fresh food in store.
Store General Manager, John Gilhooley said: “I’m really excited for shoppers of Leigh to experience our Market Street offers and see the new store. The team have been working around the clock to prepare it – we’ll have real butchers, bakers and fishmongers making and preparing fresh food all day, every day so we can’t wait for customers to come and see it for themselves.”
