A WOMAN had to be rescued from her new car after she lost control of it and it ploughed into a ditch.
Fire crews were called to North Road, Atherton, to help rescue the trapped woman who had just picked the new car up from a nearby garage and was making her way home.
She hit a patch of leaves on the road and lost control of the car – sending it through a bush and into a ravine about 10ft below.
The woman escaped with only minor injuries but her new car was written off in the incident.
A spokesman from Atherton Fire Station urged people to take extra care on the roads. He said: “We would urge people to be aware of the sometimes challenging driving conditions they are in at this time of year.
“Leaves and ice can be a real hazard, so people should take more care on the roads.”
