LEIGH was lit up Centurions and their top coach Paul Rowley performed the festive honour alongside the Mayor of Wigan.
Westleigh High School Band kicked off the switch-on activities followed by musical performances from the Birchall Duo, local singer Zoe Unsworth and Christmas panto fun from the Turnpike Players.
Atherton singer Martin Finn, who has severe autism and featured on BBC3’s Autistic Superstars, wowed the crowds with a special singing performance.
Leigh Centurions thanked fans for their support this season and spoke about their hopes for next season.
Coach Paul Rowley and the Mayor, Coun Susan Loudon, then took centre stage and switched on the lights.
Leigh’s Christmas lights are funded jointly by Wigan Council and the Leigh south, east and west and Atherleigh ward councillors through their Brighter Borough funding.
The Leigh Santa parade will take place on Saturday at 3.30pm in and around the Spinning Gate shopping centre.
