HOWE BRIDGE Badminton Club received a visit from Bolton West MP Julie Hilling as part of an open day.
The club, based at Howe Bridge Sports Centre on Eckersley Fold Lane, held the day to encourage people to get involved in badminton and play a few free games.
Ms Hilling met club coaches Laura Egan and Chris Smith and Vicky Maltby from Badminton England, before taking to the court to try her hand at a few shots.
The club have recently secured £600 funding from the Wigan Badminton Development Group and £1000 from Wigan Athletic FC Community Trust to keep it running and help it thrive in the future.
Ms Hilling said: “It was great to go along to the open day and see so many children enjoying playing badminton, and I would like to thank everyone at Howe Bridge for their determination to get this club off the ground and to Badminton England for their support.”
The club is now working towards becoming a Badminton England Premier Club and achieving Clubmark status.
