A STADIUN in Westhoughton is going to the dogs but getting a facelift at the same time!
And the makeover at Bolton and Westhoughton Greyhound Racing Stadium is to undergo work in a £100,000 revamp to restore it to its former glory.
Located on Marsh Brook Fold, off Wigan Road in Westhoughton, the stadium, opened more than 50 years ago, is currently closed to have around £30,000 of work done to refurbish the run-down track with a view to reopen under new ownership and bring back top class greyhound racing.
The new proprieter, Jason Seddon, said he is looking to provide a place where families can go and enjoy a great night out with a cafe and a fully licensed bar located on the premises.
The track is scheduled to be reopened for racing at the end of the month, although refurbishment work will be on-going.
Kennels are also available at the site and can accommodate up to 60 greyhounds.
They are open from 9am til 5pm Monday to Sunday and can take in take in greyhounds for a number of purposes such as resting and injury treatment and rehabilitation as well as for racing and schooling with prices for the facilities starting from £30 per week.
