ONE of the toughest challenges in the country’s sporting calendar will be held once again at Leigh’s Pennington Flash next year.
It will be the third year running that Ironman UK will start with the swim section in Leigh before heading into Bolton.
Figures from this year’s triathlon show more than £2m was injected back into the local economy in both Leigh and Bolton by the athletes, spectators and race organisers.
More than 4,000 people headed down to Pennington Flash in August to watch the start of this year’s Ironman UK.
Entries are already open for the event on July 22 2012 and half of the race’s 1,500 slots already allocated and organisers warn folk to get in early to avoid disappointment.
