A PLASTERING business has been left devastated after thieves stole the company’s van filled with tools.

Elite Finishing, based in Leigh, is desperately appealing for information after its Ford Transit was brazenly taken from outside a house where the business was working.

Company owner Steven Pendlebury said the van was parked outside an address on St Helens Road in Leigh when the incident happened at about 11.30am on Thursday.

The offenders took around £10,000 worth of tools including generators, drills and laser levels and Mr Pendlebury says he is now unsure how the business can continue.

Mr Pendlebury, 36, said: “Every single tool I own was in it. All my equipment and the materials I need were in the van and pretty much everything I’ve built up in 10 years has gone.

“I lost money a few years ago when a company went bankrupt but I still had my tools so I could earn money.

“I don’t know how I’m going to recover from this. I’m still in shock and I’ve got absolutely nothing.”

Mr Pendlebury said he was approached by a man in a hi-vis jacket asking for a business card and he went to get it from the van.

He then returned to the rendering job but heard the van, which is white and covered in Elite Finishing branding, start and turned round to see the vehicle heading in the direction of Leigh.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is investigating. Anyone with information should ring 101.
