IT is great to see that work is being done to change the perceptions in communities of the borough’s Fire Service.
It is sad that in this day and age our emergency services are still subject to appalling attacks when trying to help keep communities across the borough safe from harm.
Even in recent months fire crews have been pelted with stones when attending to emergency calls, so to see that work is being done to address what is a major problem is great.
In a new move crews at a Fire Station in the borough are running courses for offenders as part of the Community Pay Back scheme in the hope that offenders will go back into their communities and spread the message about the good work that is done by fire fighters every day and their dedication to keeping the public safe.
It is hoped that in this way a mutual respect will develop allowing the fire service to build on this and continue their good work in our communities.
