A GROUP of kind-hearted supermarket workers from Leigh are getting their walking boots on for one of the borough’s favourite charities.
About 30 members of staff from Asda, Leigh, are taking on Mount Snowdon on Sunday in a bid to raise thousands for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.
The climb which they expect, will take them about seven hours, is the second one that the thoughtful fund-raisers have taken on, which is why community life champion, Cathy Jones, thinks it will be a success.
She said: “We climbed Snowdon about three years ago and managed to raise a decent amount of money, but we haven’t done a major fund-raising event for the hospice for a few years so we wanted to give everything a kick start and settled on another climb.
“Everybody has been really keen to sign up and as soon as the first few people put their names down others just kept coming forward.
“The hospice is a charity close to our hearts and although you always hope you will never have to use the hospice a few colleagues have had family members need to use its services, so anything we can do to help is worth while doing.”
