STAFF and youngsters at a nursery held a charity event in memory of a long-term staff member’s husband.
Anne Marie Roberts, who works at First Steps Nursery in Lowton, organised a cake sale and fancy dress day to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The charity, which provides nursing and palliative care for patients suffering from cancer and other terminal illnesses in their own homes, is a cause close to the hearts of First Steps staff as Anne Marie’s husband Trevor passed away last year after battling cancer.
The event, which also marked First Steps’ 10th anniversary, also saw the youngsters enjoy a bouncy castle and a party tea and raised a total of £250.
Anne Marie’s fund-raising efforts will continue this weekend with an evening of entertainment at Springview Community Club.
The event will include a disco and karaoke, a raffle and bingo with prizes donated by local businesses, and face painting.
The night will be held on Saturday, June 23, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 and can be bought on the door.
