LEIGH Centurions are extremely pleased to announce that the club has been able to avoid a HMRC winding up order thanks to help from the Rugby Football League.
Centurions Acting Chairman Keith Freer said; “The Board is please to report that the RFL have now began negotiations with HMRC. This will then release the advance monies from the RFL to enable the club to meet its commitments to the players and staff.”
“This in effect means Leigh will now be able to finalise all the projects and concentrate on recruiting coach and players for next season. The Board will hope to make these announcements as we progress over the next few days. Please keep an eye on the website. On behalf of the Board I must say the support from the RFL has been vital and very much appreciated.”
“Our thanks must go to all the LISA and Lottery members, supporters and the players in turning this difficult situation into a positive for Leigh. Again to everyone Thankyou.”
Chief Executive Trevor Barton MBE added; “This is a great outcome for the club, and I’d like to extend thanks to Keith Freer who has worked tirelessly over the last fortnight to ensure the club can continue.”
