THE BRITISH Red Cross is looking for kind-hearted volunteers to hold collection buckets outside Leigh and Wigan supermarkets in December.
The charity will be holding an all-day collection outside Sainsbury’s in Leigh on Sunday, December 4.
Money raised will go towards supporting the British Red Cross’ services in the North West, and the charity is looking for people to do a two-hour fund-raising stint.
British Red Cross community fund-raiser Jackie Pickersgill said: “We run a number of services in the North West, of which the closest to Wigan is our dawn patrol, where we visit elderly people each morning and check that they’re alright, and send a medical team to give care at home if there’s a problem.
“We also run emergency response and medical teams who go to incidents such as house fires and provide a private space for people where they can get food, refreshments and counselling.
“Any money made from the collections at the supermarkets will go into our general funds to support this work, and we would be very grateful to anyone who would volunteer to come and help us.”
