A SERIES of derelict rooms has been developed into rehearsal studios, office space, training and meeting rooms at Cadence Cafe, in Tyldesley.

And the new hub at the cafe on Chapel Street was officially opened by Leigh MP Andy Burnham last Friday with the chief executives of Wigan Council and Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust (WLCT) also getting a tour of the premises to music performed by two Fred Longworth pupils.

The community interest company opened as a cafe and arts venue last September, and the venue has already become popular with the town’s artistic communities, with the cafe hosting half a dozen events at the Words Literary Festival and popular Leigh band The Lottery Winners choosing to shoot part of a music video there, and director Ian Jackson hopes the new hub will provide the behind-the-scenes facilities necessary to back up the live stage.
