A MAN had a lucky escape when a car ploughed through the window of his barber’s shop in Leigh.
Rob Grice, who owns The Barber Shop on Chapel Street, was taking a quick break while his shop was quiet when a car came crashing through the window.
Mr Grice, 40, was injured and is still off work but wants to reassure customers he will be back in business as soon as possible.
He said: “I had been sitting in the window but made a coffee and was sitting in the barber’s seat to check a few texts when it happened.
“It sounded like a bomb had gone off. All the seating and the other barber’s chair flew towards me and hit my legs and a brick hit my shoulder.
“Had I still been in the window, I wouldn’t be alive right now.”
Mr Grice was taken to hospital and sustained a prolapsed disc and sciatica down his left leg.
A young woman was questioned but police have confirmed that no criminal action has been taken.
And now Mr Grice, who also works as a DJ, must wait until he is back on his feet before reopening.
He added: “It was an accident. I want to be back at work next week but I’m being told to take it easy at the moment and get some rest”.
