A POPULAR Leigh band will be rubbing shoulders with pop royalty in front of thousands of music fans after winning a talent search.

Jeramiah Ferrari, whose blend of reggae, funk and indie has made considerable waves on the local music scene, won the final of the City SoundWave competition to book their place at the Key 103 Summer Ball at Manchester’s MEN Arena.

The four-piece booked their place at the radio station’s summer bash alongside the likes of Will Young and One Direction after performing outside Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium and winning votes on the club’s website and Key 103 radio station.

Jeramiah Ferrari, made up of singer and guitarist Ryan Barton, guitarist Josh Aitchinson, bassist Hanson Pollitt and drummer Stuart Welch, then beat four other up-and-coming acts in the final, impressing a panel of judges including Key 103 officials and presenters and top industry heads.

Singer and guitarist Ryan Barton said: “It’s going to be the biggest crowd we’ve ever played to and it should be brilliant.

“It’s just the sort of opportunity we want.

“Some of the acts we’re playing with are the biggest names in pop music at the moment. We’re just practising hard now because we want to make a big impression on the night.”

Jeramiah Ferrari will also release their Dubbyrock EP later this summer, with Ryan promising a slightly more pronounced rock influence than on their last EP.
