AN INNOVATIVE Wigan company has swept the board in a prestigious competition.

MHA Lighting took home prizes for both the Existing Performance Improvement and Energy Innovation Grand Prix prizes, given to companies that judges believe to have shown the greatest overall innovation, at the Energy Innovation Awards (EIA) this week.

The Atherton-based company manufactures and installs LED lighting solutions and has gone from strength to strength in recent months after recently securing a six-figure loan to support its growth plans as well as beating off national competition to supply its LED solutions at Manchester Airport’s terminal two and terminal three car parks earlier this year.

The company impressed the judges with its unique use of LED technology for low level lighting, which uses 70 to 80 per cent less electricity than conventional lamps.

Tom Harrison, MD of the company, said: “What an amazing evening for UK innovation and particularly for the MHA Lighting team.

“We have put so much effort into building the business this year and to have our efforts recognised by our peers in this way is a major boost.

“We are a forward-thinking firm that takes pride in providing innovative lighting solutions. It is an honour to see our work being recognised and celebrated in this way.”

Denise Massey, Director of the EIC, said: “These awards celebrate the skill and determination of individuals and teams who are working hard to develop cutting edge energy products and services which will benefit the environment and customers and strengthen the energy industry moving forward.”
